How to use the Crop PDF

What does this tool do?

Cropping removes wide white margins so pages read better on phones and e-readers, cuts a slide out of a handout, or trims printer's marks. The trim amounts are shown in millimetres as you draw.

PDF cropping changes the visible page area; the hidden part is still stored in the file. Your PDF is processed on your own device and never uploaded.

Common mistakes

  • Cropping to hide confidential details. The hidden area is still in the file and can be revealed — use redaction software for anything sensitive.
  • Cropping all pages with one box when pages have different layouts. Check a few pages, or crop them one at a time.

  • Cropped content isn't deleted, so don't crop to hide confidential information — use proper redaction software for that.

Frequently asked questions

Can I crop by exact measurements?

Yes. Besides drawing a box, you can trim a set amount from the top, bottom, left and right of the page in millimetres.

Can I crop only one page?

Yes. Choose “This page” to apply the crop to the page you're viewing, or “All pages” for the whole document.

Does cropping reduce the file size?

No. Cropping changes the visible page area (the CropBox), but the content outside it stays in the file, so the size is about the same.

Are my PDFs uploaded?

No. The PDF is opened and changed in your browser and never leaves your device.
