  • Titles, subtitles and “Prepared by” lines
  • Headings — short lines, ALL CAPS, “1.2 Scope”, # Markdown
  • Bullets and numbered steps, with or without markers
  • Tables — from spreadsheets, aligned columns, CSV or | pipes |
  • Code and commands, with syntax colouring
  • Note:, Tip:, Warning: and Key takeaway: callouts
  • Quotes with “— Name” attributions
  • Key: value details and headline figures
  • Checklists like [ ] Owner — task
  • Links and e-mail addresses (clickable)
  • Data models, flows, timelines and org structures (offered as diagrams)

Your files are processed entirely in your browser using built-in web technologies. They are not uploaded to our servers, and closing the page clears them from memory.

How to use the Text to PDF

  1. Paste or type your text, open a .txt, .md, .csv or .sql file, or open one of the example documents.
  2. Watch the live preview: the structure is detected and the pages are laid out as you type. Accept a “Could be a diagram” suggestion to turn data models, flows or timelines into diagrams.
  3. Pick a style on the preview and fonts on the Style & fonts tab — changing either never touches your text.
  4. Click any part of the preview to edit, move, add or delete it.
  5. For full control, open the Full Page Editor: drag, resize, add shapes, images, icons and diagrams, and manage pages.
  6. Download the PDF — or every page as a PNG image.

What does this tool do?

This isn't a plain text-to-PDF converter. The text is analysed line by line to work out what each part is: the title and subtitle, headings and their levels (short title-like lines, ALL CAPS, “1.2 Scope” numbering or Markdown), paragraphs, bullet and numbered lists (with or without markers), tables pasted from spreadsheets or written as aligned columns, CSV or pipes, code and terminal commands, quotes, “Note:” and “Warning:” callouts, “Key: value” details, headline figures and web links.

It also recognises what kind of document you're writing — a business report, project proposal, meeting notes, technical or API documentation, a tutorial, a product presentation or a research paper — and chooses a fitting design: covers and section breaks for reports, endpoint badges and code blocks for API docs, checklists with owners for meeting notes, step markers for tutorials, feature cards for product pages.

The layout engine then paginates like a typesetter. Headings always stay with their text, paragraphs never leave a single line alone at the top or bottom of a page, short lists, quotes and code blocks stay whole, long tables split between rows and repeat their header, big sections start on a fresh page, and short ones share a page instead of leaving gaps. If the last page would hold only a few lines, spacing is tightened slightly to pull them back.

Long documents get a cover page, a clickable contents page with page numbers, running headers with the current section, PDF bookmarks and page numbers. Links are clickable and shown as clean labels instead of long raw URLs. Everything is built in your browser with the standard PDF fonts, so files are small and text stays selectable and searchable.

Why use it?

  • Edit straight on the preview, or design pages freely in the Full Page Editor — automatic layout first, manual control when you want it.
  • 27 professional font families with ready-made pairings, embedded in the PDF so it looks the same everywhere.
  • Turn rough notes into a document that looks professionally designed — without touching fonts, spacing or page breaks.
  • No Markdown or formatting knowledge needed, though Markdown works too.
  • What you see in the preview is the exact PDF you download.
  • Nothing is uploaded, so it's safe for confidential reports, plans and client material.

Use cases

  • Business reports and quarterly reviews pasted from e-mail or a spreadsheet.
  • Project proposals with scope, timeline and budget tables.
  • Meeting minutes with attendees, decisions and action items.
  • Technical and API documentation with commands, code and parameter tables.
  • Product presentations and pitch decks as 16:9 slides.
  • Study notes, lecture handouts and research write-ups.

What raw text becomes

You don't need any special syntax — these are all recognised from ordinary text:

You typeYou get
QUARTERLY REVIEW (first line)Title on a designed cover page
Short line above a paragraphA heading, kept with its text
Region Revenue Growth (aligned)A styled table with right-aligned numbers
npm install -g acme-cliA code block with syntax colouring
Warning: back up first.A coloured warning callout
Revenue: $4.8M (+12%)A headline figure card
[ ] Priya — send the deckA checklist item with the owner in bold
https://example.com/docs/guideA clickable link shown as example.com/docs/guide

Common mistakes

  • Typing the title both in the Title box and as the first line of the text. Use one or the other.
  • Running headings and text together on one line. Put each heading on its own line so it's recognised.
  • Expecting emoji or non-Latin scripts to appear. The standard PDF fonts cover English and Western European languages.

Accuracy and limits

  • Detection is rule-based and runs entirely on your device; no AI service sees your text. It handles most real-world text well, and you can always make intent explicit with Markdown (# headings, - bullets, | tables |, ``` code ```).
  • The fonts cover English and Western European languages, including accents and typographic quotes. Emoji are left out, and other scripts such as Chinese, Arabic or Cyrillic print as “?” — the tool warns you when your text contains any.
  • The PDF is a fixed layout and can't be edited like a Word or PowerPoint file afterwards. Your text is saved in this browser, so make changes here and download again.
  • Images and charts aren't supported yet. Headline figures (“Revenue: $4.8M”) become figure cards instead.

Frequently asked questions

Can I edit the document after it's laid out?

Yes. Click any part of the preview to edit its text, move it up or down, add something below it or delete it — the change is written back to your text. For freeform design, switch to the Full Page Editor to drag, resize, add and delete anything, with undo.

Will changing the style or fonts lose my text?

No. Styles and fonts only change the design. Your text is kept separately and is never replaced — only opening an example document replaces it, and that can be undone.

Can it make diagrams like ERDs?

Yes. It suggests a diagram when your text describes one — “Users create orders”, SQL CREATE TABLE statements, arrows like “Login -> Dashboard”, dated lists or “reports to” lines. You can also write erd, flowchart, timeline, mindmap, orgchart, sequence, process or architecture code blocks, and edit entities, fields and connections visually in the Full Page Editor.

Is my text uploaded or sent to an AI?

No. The analysis, layout and PDF are all produced inside your browser. Your text never leaves your device. A draft is saved in this browser only, so you can come back to it.

Do I need to format my text first?

No. Paste it as it is: titles, headings, lists, tables, code, quotes, callouts and links are detected automatically. If you already use Markdown, that's understood too and gives you exact control.

How does it decide where pages break?

Headings are never left at the bottom of a page, paragraphs keep at least two lines together on each side of a break, short tables, lists and code blocks stay whole, long tables repeat their header row on each page, and large sections start on a new page while short ones share a page.

Can it make slides instead of a document?

Yes. Choose Slides to get a 16:9 (or 4:3, A4 or Letter landscape) deck from the same text, with title, section, quote, figure, table and code slides. Press Present to show it full-screen.

Are links clickable in the PDF?

Yes. Web addresses and e-mail addresses become clickable links with short, readable labels, and entries on the contents page jump to their section. Long documents also get PDF bookmarks.

Can I still make a plain text PDF?

Yes. Choose “Plain text” to keep your text exactly as typed, wrapped to the page, with your choice of font, size and page size.

Can I use my brand colour?

Yes. On the Style tab pick a swatch or enter your hex colour. Headings, rules, tables, cards and covers recolour, and text contrast is adjusted automatically so it stays readable and prints well.

Can I edit the PDF in Word or PowerPoint afterwards?

Not directly — a PDF is a fixed layout. Your text stays saved in this browser, so edit it here and download again; it takes a second.
