Good to know

Why do edited files download as WAV?

Browsers can decode MP3, AAC and other compressed formats, but they can't encode MP3. WAV is uncompressed, so your edit loses no quality and plays everywhere — it's just larger (about 10 MB per minute in stereo). Your music app or phone can convert it to MP3 or AAC if you need a smaller file.

Decibels in one minute

0 dBFS is the loudest a digital file can be; everything else is negative. +6 dB doubles the signal level, and +10 dB sounds roughly twice as loud. Normalizing to −1 dBFS makes a file as loud as possible without clipping.

Common questions

Quick answers about these free tools.

Are my recordings and files uploaded?

No. Everything — decoding, editing, recording and tag editing — happens in your browser.

Which formats can I open?

Anything your browser can play: MP3, WAV, M4A/AAC, OGG/Opus and FLAC in most modern browsers, plus WebM. Safari doesn't open OGG files on older versions.

Is there a length limit?

Files up to 300 MB can be opened. Very long recordings use a lot of memory, so on phones keep edits under about an hour.
