How to use the CSS Formatter & Minifier

  1. Paste your CSS into the left box, or open a file.
  2. Adjust the options if you need to.
  3. Copy the formatted or minified CSS or download it as a file.

What does this tool do?

Beautify puts each rule and declaration on its own line with consistent indentation. Minify strips comments and unnecessary whitespace, which typically saves 15–30%.

Why use it?

Frequently asked questions

How much does minifying CSS help?

It typically cuts 15–30% of the file size. If your server already uses GZIP or Brotli compression, the gain over the network is smaller, but minifying is still standard practice for production.

Will beautifying change how my CSS works?

No. Only whitespace, line breaks and indentation change. Selectors, properties and values stay exactly the same.
