Frequently asked questions

What is SOS in Morse code?

··· −−− ··· — three dots, three dashes, three dots, sent as one continuous signal. It was chosen because it's easy to send and recognise, not because the letters stand for anything.

How are letters and words separated?

Letters are separated by spaces and words by a slash (/). When decoding, use the same format so the translator can tell where each letter and word ends.
