How to use the CSV to JSON Converter

  1. Paste your CSV (or copy cells from Excel) into the left box, or open a file.
  2. Adjust the options if you need to.
  3. Copy the JSON or download it as a file.

What does this tool do?

The converter uses a full CSV parser, so quoted fields, commas inside quotes and line breaks inside cells are handled correctly. The delimiter (comma, semicolon, tab or pipe) is detected automatically.

With a header row, each line becomes an object keyed by column name. Numbers and true/false values can be converted to real JSON types instead of strings.

Why use it?

  • Feed spreadsheet data into apps and APIs.
  • Prepare fixtures and seed data.
  • Paste straight from Excel or Google Sheets (tab-separated).

Example

name,age
Ada,36 becomes [{"name": "Ada", "age": 36}]

Frequently asked questions

Can I paste cells straight from Excel or Google Sheets?

Yes. Copied cells are tab-separated, and the converter detects tabs automatically along with commas, semicolons and pipes.

What does the header row option do?

With a header row, each line becomes an object whose keys are the column names. Without it, each line becomes a simple array of values.
