How to use the JPG to PNG
- Choose your JPG files (several at once is fine).
- Adjust quality if the option is shown.
- Download the PNG files individually or as a ZIP.
What does this tool do?
PNG stores images losslessly, so converting a JPG to PNG prevents any further quality loss when you edit and save it again. The file will usually be larger, because PNG doesn't use JPG's lossy compression.
Conversion happens on your device, so it's fast and your pictures stay private.
Why use it?
- Edit an image repeatedly without further quality loss.
- Upload where PNG is required.
- Batch convert many photos.
Use cases
- Keep a photo you'll edit and re-save several times from losing more detail each time.
- Upload to a form, app or print service that only accepts PNG.
- Put scanned pages or screenshots saved as JPG into documents that expect PNG.
Common mistakes
- Expecting a transparent background. A JPG has no transparency to carry over, so the PNG keeps the same solid background.
- Expecting sharper results. Converting can't undo the blur or blockiness JPG compression already added.
Privacy
Your files are processed entirely in your browser using built-in web technologies. They are not uploaded to our servers, and closing the page clears them from memory. There's no account to create and nothing to install.
Frequently asked questions
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser using the Canvas API. Your images never leave your device, which is why it works even on a slow connection.
Will converting to PNG improve quality?
No — it can't restore detail JPG compression already removed. It only stops further loss from now on.
Why is my PNG bigger than the JPG?
PNG is lossless: it stores every pixel exactly, while JPG throws away detail you rarely notice to save space. A photo as PNG is often several times larger than the same photo as JPG, without looking any better.
Can I convert several JPGs at once?
Yes. Choose or drop as many files as you like, then download them one by one or together as a ZIP.
