  2. Choose how long the summary should be.
  3. Copy the summary.

What does this tool do?

This is an extractive summarizer: it scores each sentence by how many of the text's key words it contains, adjusts for length and position, and keeps the highest-scoring sentences in their original order. It never rewrites or invents anything — every sentence comes from your text.

Extractive summaries work best on informational writing like news, reports and documentation.

Why use it?

  • Skim long reads quickly.
  • Pull key points for notes.
  • Nothing is sent to an AI service.

Tip

Around 25–35% of the sentences usually captures the main points. For bullet-style notes, turn on bullet points.

Accuracy and limits

  • It can't understand meaning, so it may miss a key point stated in an unusual way. It doesn't paraphrase — an AI rewriting tool is on our roadmap.

Privacy

Everything you type is processed in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to our servers or stored by us. There's no account to create and nothing to install.

Frequently asked questions

Does this use ChatGPT or another AI model?

No. It uses statistical language techniques that run in your browser. Your text isn't sent to any AI service, and the tool doesn't generate new text.

What kind of text does it summarise best?

Structured, factual writing such as news articles, reports and essays, where key points are stated in clear sentences. It works less well on fiction, dialogue and lists, where meaning is spread across many short lines.
