How to use the Add Text to PDF
- Choose a PDF.
- Pick the Text tool and click where the text should go, then type in the side panel.
- Drag to fine-tune the position, change size, font or colour, and download.
What does this tool do?
Perfect for printed-style application forms that don't have fillable fields: click on each line and type. Use white-out first to cover a typo or an old date, then type the correction on top.
Text uses the standard PDF fonts (Helvetica, Times and Courier), so the file stays small and prints sharply. Your PDF is processed on your own device and never uploaded.
Why use it?
- Works on any PDF.
- White-out for corrections.
- Multi-line text.
Accuracy and limits
- This adds new text; it can't edit existing text inside the PDF. Built-in fonts support Western European characters only.
Privacy
Your files are processed entirely in your browser using built-in web technologies. They are not uploaded to our servers, and closing the page clears them from memory. There's no account to create and nothing to install.
Frequently asked questions
Can I edit existing text in a PDF?
Not directly — PDFs don't store text in editable paragraphs. Cover the old text with White-out and type the new text on top; just remember the original text is still in the file underneath.
Can I type on a scanned PDF?
Yes. Click anywhere on the page to add text, then choose the font, size and colour and drag it into position.
Is the text searchable after saving?
Yes — added text is real text in the PDF, so it can be selected and searched.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, so private documents never leave your device.
