How to use the Keyword Density Checker
- Paste your text or article.
- Choose single words, 2-word or 3-word phrases.
- Review the list and copy it as CSV if needed.
What does this tool do?
Keyword density is how often a word or phrase appears compared with the total word count. It's useful for spotting repetition and checking that your text is actually about its topic.
There's no ideal density. Search engines understand topics and synonyms, so write naturally for readers; stuffing keywords can hurt more than help.
Why use it?
- Spot words you've over-used.
- Check a page covers its main topic.
- Compare your text with competing pages.
How density is calculated
If “coffee” appears 12 times in a 600-word article, its density is 12 ÷ 600 = 2%. For two-word phrases, each occurrence counts as two words.

Frequently asked questions
How is keyword density calculated?
Divide the number of times a word appears by the total number of words, then multiply by 100. A word used 12 times in a 600-word article has a density of 2%.
Does keyword density affect rankings?
Not as a target. Search engines understand topics and synonyms, and repeating a phrase unnaturally can make a page worse. Use density to spot repetition, not to hit a number.
